Any personal data or sensitive personal data provided to us will be held and processed in accordance with the data protection principles set out in the data protection in the European Union (http://ec.europa.eu/justice/policies/privacy/guide/index_en.htm). This provides (amongst other things) that the data we hold about you should be processed lawfully and fairly. It should be accurate, relevant and not excessive. The information should, where necessary, be kept up to date and not retained for longer than is necessary. It should be kept securely to prevent unauthorised access by other parties.

At Enterprise Europe Network - Japan we are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and website visitors. Our relationship with you is valuable and we understand the importance you place on the privacy and security of information which personally identifies you. Enterprise Europe Network - Japan uses safe, secure technology which is intended to ensure that your information is secure on its system.

By providing us with information, you agree that we can compile and process your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not want us to compile and process your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy you should not submit it.

Collection and use of your Data

Enterprise Europe Network - Japan collects personally identifiable information when you register with us and when you use our services. We ask you for personal data only when it is needed to provide services you have enquired about or requested. You do not need to provide us with personal data simply to browse our site.

Enterprise Europe Network - Japan use this information to customise the content you see on our pages, to deal with your enquiry or to communicate with you regarding events and services via update e-mails or newsletters. You are entitled to opt-out of such communications at any time.

We collect information from you in the following circumstances:

  • Registration – Some areas of our website require you to be registered with us to obtain certain services or information. Our registration process requires your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. We use this information to provide you with the service you have requested or to answer your enquiries.
  • Events – Personal data is required to keep you informed of developments, including new activities, conferences, seminars, online consultations and business opportunities. Where we offer on-line registration in particular cases, we will be required to obtain certain information about you, such as contact details, to process your registration and to follow-up.
  • Subscriptions and Newsletters – Users of our website can register for a number of e-mail newsletters and news updates. This service is entirely optional and you may unsubscribe at any time.
  • Optional Information – We may request optional information from you on our registration forms. We request this information so that we may understand your needs and better serve you.

Sharing your Data

There are times when we are required to share the information we learn from you with other parties. We do not sell or rent this information to others but will send personally identifiable information to other companies or people in the following situations:

  • Enterprise Europe Network Partners will share your information with professional advisers, strategic partners, survey and research organisations, other individuals and organisations that we employ or work with to perform functions in certain situations. Examples of these functions include website support, sending postal mail, faxes and e-mail, providing services and following up on enquiries (including by phone, e-mail, post or fax). These partners have access to the personal information required to perform their functions, but may not use it for any other purpose. This may also involve the transfer of your information abroad in certain circumstances.
  • Legal compliance - We will release personal information where required by law or by the regulations and other rules (including auditing requirements) to which we are subject.
  • Contractual Obligation – Under a contractual obligation we may be asked to supply your details, and information on the services which you have received from us, to the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI) and the European Commission. You may be contacted by the EACI and asked about the quality of the services which you have received. This is part of the monitoring of the Enterprise Europe Network, of which Enterprise Europe Network - Japan is a member. The EACI may not use it for any other purpose.

We may edit this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes we will notify you by posting a prominent announcement on our web pages.

It is understood that unless you notify us otherwise, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data. Other than in the circumstances mentioned above, no information will be passed to another party without your prior consent unless we are legally obliged to do so.
