Distinctions:

Fukuoka Prefectural Bio Industry Center Promotion Conference has been nurturing bio-related industries under the scheme of Fukuoka Bio Cluster Project, through collaboration with Asian countries. One of the grand objectives of the project is to cluster bio-industries such as bio-based venture companies, research institutes and others, to form the bio-cluster centered in Kurume region, southern Fukuoka.

Activity Description:

○Support for Research and Development：Implementation of projects to nurture new 
   biotech start-ups in Fukuoka Prefecture(R&D subsidies to corporations, about six 
   themes/year, total 62 million yen/year)
○Nurturing new ventures：Provision of low-cost manufacturing facilities, laboratories and 
   equipment(Bio Factory, Bio Incubation Center, open laboratories)
○Specialist dispatch：Research support provided by science and technology coordinators
○Cooperation and exchange：Introduction of potential technology from academia, 
   provision of information on latest biotech developments
